BES Points of Pride
1. Academic Achievement: 1st Semester Awards Day
In December 2023, we celebrated and recognized our students' outstanding academic achievements. During this celebratory event, administration, teachers, and staff showed our students how much we appreciate their hard work throughout the 1st semester as motivation to keep up the hard work.
The impact of awards day is to motivate our students to continue to strive for excellence in all that they do. The impact allows students to self-reflect and feel proud about what they have accomplished and how they can achieve goals that they may have set for themselves.
2. Community Engagement: Moments with Mom
Memories with Mom was our community event we held here at BES in March 2024 to celebrate the mother figures in our students' lives. Our students and their families had the opportunity to fellowship and create memorable moments captured by photos and arts and craft activities.
Memories with Mom impacted our school by continuing to develop a positive school culture within our building. The event gave our school the opportunity to invite our students' families to come and interact in a safe and positive environment.
3. Culture and Safety: Hispanic Heritage Month/Fall Festival
During the month of October, BES hosted their Annual Fall Festival as a way to create a safe and fun space where the community and students can come together to have fun and raise money for school activities. We also celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month during the month of October to promote a diversity and safe place where students can learn about different cultures.
The impact of school Fall Festivals and Hispanic Heritage Month is to bring cultural awareness and to provide a safe space where students could interact with peers while being exposed to different cultures and experiences.
4. Special Recognition: Atten-Dance/Game Day
This year our school recognized our ferocious readers and students who had perfect attendance. Our readers who met their reading goal for the quarter got to celebrate with a game day hosted by our amazing media specialists. While our students who attended school everyday had the opportunity to attend the “Atten–Dance” celebration hosted by our wonderful BES counselors.
The impact of having these events at our school is to continue to cultivate lifelong readers and encourage our students to attend school daily. Through these events we have increased our school circulation in the media center and increased our student attendance. These events have continued to create a positive environment for our students to attend school daily and be active in participating in school activities.
5. Initiatives/Partnerships: Career Day
BES hosted their annual STEM Career Day to showcase career opportunities paths that students could pursue one day with a focus on the STEM aspect of each career. Our students had the opportunity to interact with different professionals who partnered with our school to teach students about their field and how they too can enter that field if they are interested.
The STEM Career Day had an impact on our students by exposing them to different career paths and giving them an up-close learning experience about different career opportunities. The STEM Career Day also gives our school a chance to partner with our community and showcase our school’s positive environment.
